Rolex, at the end of the 1990s, specifically in 2000, changed the movement of the Rolex Daytona. The iconic Zenith-based caliber 4030 was discontinued, and the new Rolex-based caliber 4130 was introduced.
And it's right here that the transitional Rolex Daytona models emerge, produced in very limited quantities that were ordered in the late 1990s but delivered after 2000, after the discontinuation of the Zenith-based caliber 4030.
Therefore, following this production logic, Rolex had to deal with this movement transition, giving birth to extremely rare watches produced with the Zenith-based movement but delivered with the new Rolex movement. This movement transition has made this watch exceptionally rare and highly appreciated in the collector's realm.
